FullCarX® Leather Steering Wheel Restoration Kit is specially designed to restore your car’s leather steering wheel in just a few easy steps. Black color.

ATTENTION: Before use, make sure that the steering wheel is made of leather and not synthetic material.

It can be used in stages of light wear or discoloration as well as in advanced stages of complete restoration. Easy, in just a few minutes restores all leather steering wheels. The paints used are long-lasting, water-based, safe for leather fabrics and dry quickly. Fully guaranteed, made in Spain (Valencia) by FullCarX.

Package contents:

  • 400 grit sandpaper to soften and open pores: Use sandpaper before applying paint. The purpose of sandpaper is to open pores so paint can penetrate and soften worn areas caused by rubbing the ring or peeling over time. Sandpaper can help even out the surface and help the paint and pigment absorb better.
  • Black neoprene gloves. Thick and reusable.
  • 30 ml of professional degreaser, specially for leather. Degreaser made on the basis of deodorized gasoline, used for pre-treatment and preparation of technical leather.
  • 30 ml matte black paint, water-based, specially for leather. Matte jet black paint, water-based, with high coloring power and coverage. Apply with a sponge.
  • 30 ml of sealant. Apply after painting the steering wheel. Wait at least two hours.
  • Sponge for applying paint.
  • Microfiber cloth.

INSTRUCTIONS: Follow three simple steps:

STEP 1. Skin degreaser.

Wipe the entire steering wheel with a clean, soft, white cloth lightly dampened with degreaser (several times if necessary). This step is important to remove traces of hand oil and sweat and ensure optimal paint adhesion.

STEP 1.2. Sponge sandpaper.

Gently rub the leather of the steering wheel with sandpaper. It is VERY IMPORTANT to sand the entire steering wheel completely to open the leather pores and allow the paint to penetrate. After sanding, remove the sandpaper dust with a sponge. It is recommended to wipe lightly again with a degreaser.

STEP 2. Leather repair paints.

Repair paints should be applied after cleaning and preparing the leather, when it is completely degreased. Protect the areas you do not want to paint before applying the paint. The paint is applied to the leather after it has dried, approximately 30 minutes to 1 hour after cleaning. After shaking the paint to mix the pigment evenly, apply the first thin layer with a sponge to the damaged areas (areas with discoloration), always moving from seam to seam.

You can use a hair dryer to speed it up, not too hot, just to help it dry. It is recommended to apply several coats before applying a solid coat. If there is a part that is particularly discolored and needs more color, apply only a few coats and then blend it out with the rest of the rudder.

To ensure a high-quality paint job on a very worn steering wheel, you can sand the area again after each coat of paint to soften the leather and give it a new look. After sanding, reapply the paint. This can be done several times until you achieve a perfect surface. Remember that the paint must be completely dry before you can sand it.

STEP 3. Sealant.

Once the touch-up paint has dried (at least 2 hours), apply the protectant with a clean, lint-free cloth and allow to absorb into the leather. Do not apply it as if you were brushing it on, as streaks will be visible once it dries. The protectant should be applied gradually, without moving and without scratching the steering wheel, leaving it damp and allowing it to dry. The steering wheel can be applied twice.
